Impressions: Delhi

So what are my impressions of Delhi:

RED

and... more RED

beyond red? PINK

It is said that in the medieval period of Indian history, Red sandstone from Makrana in Rajasthan was the preferred Building material Now, searching for Makrana throws up info about its Marble mines . No reference to sandstone.
(Must have been exhausted by the prolific building going on in Delhi).Anyway, Mr Edward Lutyens due to his preference for traditional stuff, continued the redness of Delhi.

Delhi is very well planned. The roads are Avenues , even outside the Ringroad. But Delhi has a lot of economic rent.(not the one a tenant pays but this one) . This might be common in developing economies and many other places. What troubles me however, is that rent seeking behavior is accepted and rent availability is maintained. Someone who does not bargain fiercely is an Idiot(not all the vernacular terms used are parliamentary). I do not understand why Delhi metro is so under priced given that the project required Japanese funding. Subsidization in Delhi is excused in the name of "National capital".

So , do I hate Delhi? No because of these two reasons:

1.There has been an actual increase in Infra for the common Man

2. All said and Done, the city has culture, Difficult for me , but it does exist.
